Teens Tackle UN Tasks

Albuquerque Press Women will hear about the model UN program at La Cueva High School on Monday, April 9, 2012 at 11:45 a.m. at the MCM Elegante Hotel, 2020 Menaul NE.  Greg Shaw, sponsor of the Model UN program teaches Contemporary Issues in the Gifted Program at La Cueva.  He has a Ph.D. in Applied Physiology with a background in research. Shaw and members of the Model UN Team will speak about their program.

The Model UN is a student-centered program that makes use of United Nations simulations.  Students role-play ambassadors and delegates to debate, negotiate, and write resolutions on diverse topics such as: the establishment of a definition for private military contractors, the construction of a constitution for post-revolutionary Libya, or, addressing current global problems such as human trafficking, or even, the promotion of maternal health and/or literacy.

The cost of the lunch is $15 for members and $21 for non-members.  Anyone is welcome, but reservations must be made in advance by emailing presswomen@yahoo.com
