How Will New Mexico’s Medicaid Expansion Affect Us?

Albuquerque Press Women will hear from two experts on the expansion of the Medicaid program in New Mexico at their March 11 luncheon meeting.   By some estimates more than 170,000 people will be added to the Medicaid rolls in the state in 2014.  How are health providers planning to handle the change?  Ava Lovell, Senior Executive Officer for Finance & Administration at the UNM Health Sciences Center and Mary Winters Morse, Divisional Vice President, NM Medicaid with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico will share their perspectives.

Lovell is a CPA with 30 years of financial management experience including work for a national auditing firm and several Fortune 500 companies.  Her current responsibilities at UNM include fiscal and administrative oversight for the HSC including academic and health system enterprises.

Morse is a Registered Nurse with 30 years management experience in managed care administration including Medicaid Managed Care.  She was formerly Director of Quality Management and Medicaid Compliance Officer with Presbyterian Health Plan.

Please join us for this unique look at a rapidly evolving issue of interest for everyone in the state.  To make reservations for the luncheon, please call (505) 720-7821 or email before March 6, 2013.  Cost of the lunch is $15 for members and $21 for non-members.
