Mark Lautman,founder of the Community Economics Lab a private not-for-profit think tank focused on developing new approaches for economic development will speak to Albuquerque Press Women on Monday, Oct. 13 at 11:45 a.m. at the MCM Elegante Hotel at 2020 Menaul Blvd. NE.
Lautman will explore what it will take to get Albuquerque’s economy back to full employment, and will report on the work he is doing with the New Mexico Legislative Jobs Council, Sandoval County and others in the region to get consensus on the number of new economic base jobs needed to get the regional economy back to pre-recession employment levels.
He will also address which industry sectors will provide these jobs and what gaps must be closed for new jobs to materialize. Lautman is the author of “When the Boomers Bail: A Community Economics Survival Guide.”
