Albuquerque Press Women will hear about a new look at the way the New Mexico Justice System functions at our monthly lunch on February 8 at 11:45 a.m.at the MCM Elegante (2020 Menaul NE). “New Mexico in Depth” has added a special focus to its coverage, “The Justice Project.” Reporter Jeff Proctor will speak to APW about how this project will follow the legislature, the courts, and the police agencies as they constantly attempt to re-balance the scales of justice in the state.
Proctor started in journalism at the “New Mexico Daily Lobo” in 2002. From there, he spent ten years covering a wide range of topics related to the justice system for the “Albuquerque Journal.” then two years producing investigative stories for KRQE. Proctor is a two-time winner of the New Mexico Press Association’s Public Service Award, the 2012 recipient of the New Mexico Foundation for Open Government’s First Amendment Freedom Award, and a finalist for the American Bar Association’s Silver Gavel Award for his reporting on the justice system.
Anyone is welcome, but reservations must be made by emailing E-Mail or by calling 720-7821 by February 3. Cost of the lunch for members and first-time guests is $16, nonmembers $21.
