Bernalillo County District 3 Commissioners Maggie Hart Stebbins will headline our next lunch meeting on May 9 at 11:45 at the MCM Elegante.
You may remember that Bernalillo County has put in place a small tax increase to collect money to reconstruct the mental health system that had been partially destroyed by the State of New Mexico. Commissioner Hart Stebbins is leading the county efforts to put together a new system to treat the mentally ill in this county.
Commission Hart Stebbins has a long history of public service. She has been active in many community organizations serving on several public and private boards, including the New Mexico Children’s Foundation, the New Mexico Mutual Group Board of Directors, Albuquerque’s Open Space and Biopark Advisory Boards, the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court Judicial Selection Commission, and the local YWCA. As a county commissioner she has been an advocate of transparency and has worked to make the Bernalillo County website more user friendly.
This meeting will be interesting on two levels. We will learn what services are available and on what timeline, and we will have a front row seat to see how the county is doing as it tackles this very difficult task. There will be a chance to ask Commissioner Hart Stebbins questions.
Anyone is welcome, but reservations must be made by contacting E-Mail or by calling 720-7821 by May 4. Cost of the lunch for members and first-time guests is $16, nonmembers $21. If you require a special meal, please request it when you make your reservation. Your reservation is our commitment to reserve your lunch and your commitment to pay.
