Do you want to know the latest about what is happening in the print journalism world in New Mexico? Join Albuquerque Press Women and Friends on Monday, September 9 at 11:30 a.m. at Mimi’s Cafe (4315 The 25 Way) to hear Sammy Lopez, the executive director of the New Mexico Press Association.
Lopez has a long history of working with New Mexico newspapers including the Daily Times in Farmington, the Carlsbad Current-Argus and the Las Cruces Sun-News. He’s experienced first hand the changing world of local journalism and will share his insights. He is a digital marketing executive and publisher. He also spends time working with non-profit organizations to build better communities. Lopez is a past president of the NMPA, has been inducted into the Hall of Fame, and has been awarded the William S. Dixon First Amendment Freedom Award by the New Mexico Foundation for Open Government.
New Mexico Press Women and Friends meet monthly on the second Monday. Anyone is welcome at meetings, but non-members will be charged an additional $5. Attendees order individual meals directly from the menu. APWF focuses on a wide variety of communication opportunities.
